AL: Welcome to College Admissions Real Talk. This is Dr. Aviva Legatt, founder and Elite Admissions Expert at Ivy Insight and author of “Get Real and Get In”. Today we’re going to be talking about the Virtual Summit and a sneak preview of our speakers and session. I’m very excited to bring you this series of episodes this week to talk all about our virtual summit: College Admissions in the Era of COVID-19. I want you to get a sneak preview and some insider information before you come to the summit. To sign up for our summit, which is free of charge, go to collegeadmissionssummit.com or ivyinsight.com/virtual-summit. Our next speaker is the incredible Dr. Ruth Gotian. Dr. Ruth and I are connected in multiple ways. First, we’re part of a great professional network together. Secondly, she happens to know my father in law who is also in education and medicine. So Dr. Gotian is the chief learning officer of Wild Cornell Medicine. She was recently recognized as an emerging thinker in the Thinkers 50. She is the Chief learning officer, an assistant professor of education in anesthesiology and former assistant team of mentoring and executive director of the Mentoring Academy at Wild Cornell Medicine. She is the go to expert when it comes comes to mentoring, opportunities to be mentored, and high performance and high achievement. During her extensive career, she’s personally coached and mentored thousands of people ranging from undergraduates to faculty members. Dr. Gotian and I are going to be talking about mentorship and achievement during COVID 19. How do we measure success? And should we change our expectations in light of COVID 19? We’re going to dive deeply into this discussion and talk about how we can make strategic mentoring relationships during this challenging time. This chat will also cover the value of mentoring for high school students and some specialized approaches that students can take when speaking out a mentor. Our next far side chat is with the incredible author and college admissions expert Brennan Barnard. Brennan Barnard is widely published and widely recognized expert in the field of college admissions. He serves as director of college counseling and outreach at the Dairy Field School, which is an independent day school in Manchester, New Hampshire. He is also involved at the U.S. Performance Academy, which is an online independent high school for elite athlete. He is the College Admissions Program advisor with the Making Caring Common Project at Harvard Graduate School of Education. During over two decades of his career in education, Brendan has worked as a teacher, coach, Storm, parent, admissions officer, counselor, and administrator. He is counseled everyone from Olympians, thespians, engineers and everything in between. So Brendan and I are going to be talking about character in admission and character in admissions is a trending subject. As I talk about in my book, “Get Real and Get In”, authenticity is really your best ticket towards your goals and figuring out who you are and what you want to do. So Brenda and I are going to be talking about the important work that he’s doing at Harvard with respect to elevating character in college admissions and helping students to figure out how they can develop and build on their character despite these challenging circumstances. If you purchase a VIP pass, we’re going to do a special invite-only Q&A on the Wednesday, the second day of the summit, which is Wednesday, March 24th. We’re also going to have a fun speakers lounge on Thursday, the 25th at 12 Eastern. All the times I gave, by the way, are in Eastern time. So if you are on Club House, you can follow me @avivalegatt. If you need an invite to Club House sign up for the summit and purchase a VIP pass. If you do those things, we will be able to get you an invite to Clubhouse for the speaker’s lounge, as well as some great bonuses, like my college application templates and a special Q&A session that’s exclusive for VIP members on Wednesday, the 24th. Until next time. So, looking forward to seeing you at the summit! Contact us at info@ivyinsight.com. Until next time.
